X-Mas Theme

How to install the X-Mas theme

I have tried to make it as easy as possible to install the X-Mas theme. Please follow these steps as follows:

1. Locate your themes directory on your harddisk  - this will probably be
   C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\

2. Activate the X-Mas.exe file (double click it) and enter the path of your themes directory (your result from question number 1)

3. Go to the X-Mas font directory. (probably C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\X-Mas\fonts). All these fonts have been placed in a seperate directory for more easy navigation.

4. Mark all the .TTF files and copy them ( [Ctrl+C] or right mouse-click "copy")

5. Go to your font directory (probably C:\Windows\fonts\)

6. Insert all the copied files ( [Ctrl+V] or right mouse-click "Insert")

7. Go to the X-Mas directory (probably C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\X-Mas\) and activate the "X-Mas Logo.bat" file - by double click it.

8. Go to your themes directory and click on either the "X-Mas 1024x768.theme" or
   "X-Mas 800x600.theme" file. The last part of the theme, tells how large the wallpaper will be - depending on how high a screen resolution you use. At the time, this theme only supports these two resolutions. If you use another resolution, and you cannot make the wallpaper fit yourself, just mail me your resolution information and e-mail, and I will send you the needed files.

How to uninstall the X-Mas theme

1. Go to the X-Mas directory (probably C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\X-Mas\)

2. Activate the "X-Mas Logo Default.bat" file

3. Go to your themes directory (C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\)

4. Delete the "X-Mas" directory

5. Delete the "X-Mas 1024x768.theme" and "X-Mas 800x600.theme" files.

Even though I have made this theme myself, there are some elements (2), that I have got from elsewhere. Here is a list with credits to the author:

The Icons: I haven't made any of the icons myself. I found these on the net, and came to the conclusion, that if I made some myself, they would look much the same. No need to make the same work twice. Sorry, no author go credit from the page I downloaded them from, and no information came with them.

The Start-up Logo: I had made a start-up logo myself, but when I saw Ben Elliss's start-up logo, I decided to use that instead. I did ask him first. He would be happy to receive some feed back. Here is the information he asked me to post on this page:

Changing the sounds

If you at a time get tired of one particle sound (e.g. the "start program" sound), you can de-activate it without using the control panel. Go to you X-Mas directory, and locate the sound, you do not wish to use anymore. Then rename it to something else - for simplicity just ass a "+" sign. Later on, you can just remove the "+" sign, and the sound will work again.

Windows 98

I personally use windows 95, and all my themes are created for windows 95. If you are using Windows 98, I cannot guarantee that this theme works as intended.

A little story about the X-Mas theme

I know, I know. There are 100 or more Christmas themes on the net. However, my very first theme was a Christmas theme (1 year ago). "Why haven't I seen it at your homepage" you might ask. Well, it was too poor. I didn't even like it myself, so why would others? Now I got some experience in theme building and wanted to try again. The result - a major upgrade, that even I like.
