Red Baron 2

Ace Paint Instructions

Bad AttitudeIf you are an ACE (5 or more kills) you can paint your own plane. If this is difficult or too much trouble for you, here is the paint scheme for 'Bad Attitude'.As you can see it's green with dice on the fuselage representing Lady Luck and Taking Chances. NOTE: This paint scheme is for the 'Morane Bullet' only. As I get more planes I will make the paint schemes available on our Red Baron page.

The following files need to be placed in your 'Sierra\RedBaronII\paint' directory (all other files can be deleted after following the instructions):
  1. BadAce1_.cfg (Configuration file for squad if you have the rank)
  2. ElevBot.bmp (Elevator - Bottom)
  3. ElevTop.bmp (Elevator - Top)
  4. Fuselage.bmp (Fuselage)
  5. MidWinB.bmp (Mid Wing Bottom)
  6. MidWinT.bmp (Mid Wing Top)
  7. Rudder.bmp (Rudder)
  8. Wheel.bmp (Wheel)
After you have moved the files, start the game, go to campaign, squadron ops, paint plane. Click on where it says 'load' and you will see the files you just moved listed. Choose the file that cooresponds with the part of the plane showing in the box in the upper left corner. Click on 'apply'. Continue until all files have been assigned. Finally, click on save and name the configuration.

To see the paint scheme in action, go to 'Fly Now' and check it out from an outside view. Not bad if I say so myself.

If you really want to paint your own plane be aware of 2 bugs that I have found so far:
  1. When trying to import the RUDDER, it will tell you that most of the file is transparent...the .bmp cannot be used (it does this with the original as well!). ANSWER: All along the rudder you will need to add a 2-pixel-high line - your choice of colors. The paint program will now allow you to import it. This does not affect game play...it is intended for visuals only. Just to see what would happen, I stuck the wing .bmp in place of the rudder! Still flew like a charm but looked silly...just to prove my point.
  2. You cannot view your paint scheme while using the HAT BUTTON inside your cockpit. In order to view your masterpiece you'll need to use one of the outside views. Be careful though. After painting my plane I had the game crash (never happened before) while pushing F2 - F6 consecutively.
I hope you enjoy this Theme and the game as much as I do. I have waited many a year for Red Baron 2 and even though it has its faults (what doesn't) it's still THE game for '98! Enjoy!!!
