It was still severe hot day in August '96.
Guppies came in our house. 3 pairs of guppies were swimming vigorously in the tank, However, for only several days. Surroundings of their filet and mouths had became white and died one after another. Finally only one guppy male remained. Without learning a lesson to it, we inserted 3 pairs of guppies into the tank. They had got annihilated in several days.
Chlorine neutralizing agent(Tetra Contra Chlorine) has been inserted in the tank, therefore chlorine poisoning is not conceivable. Why had they died? The pH of water in the tank measured with pH meter(Tetra Test pH tropical) was 6-6.5 acid water. Tap water was becoming acid to the drought season in summer. Guppies live in the water of a weak alkali. Acid water of pH 6 has destroyed the mucous membrane and gills of guppies. Cause of death might be pH shock.
Thereupon, we adjust the water quality with pH adjustment medicine and mucous membrane protection medicine(Tetra Aqua Safe). We applied 5-day period for making optimal water to fish. We were going to start the 3rd guppy breeding and went to tropical fish shop to buy guppies. The woman of a middle age in tropical fish shop,
having a tropical fish breeding experience in several years, said "Guppies are not good. They are all ill.", and we were sprained. As she said, one decreased, and one decreased. Two guppies had died.
Furthermore we studied. Guppy likes salt water. The death rate of guppies in water is 30-40%, a high rate during 20 days(quoted from "Tetra How to breed guppies"). Thereupon, Tetra Vital(Mineral, iodine) was added to the tank. Then after that, the condition of guppies became good rapidly. And, finally guppies bore children. We surpassed to her!
(Now guppies produces children contagiously and they are increasing too much. We are having a hard time for taking care of them. The water quality adjustment medicine of Tetra was very useful for us.)
A lesson. It is not too much no matter how you make optimal water to fish carefully.
(And health and vigor of fish is the most important. A good tropical fish shop should be chosen.)
We offer this software for guppies having died unhappily in our house.

A real image by simple bitmap file data.
You can easily make data of tropical fish, water plant, and accessories in tanks.
At the beginning, We have had the thoughtless plan that adopts 3D-modeling and texture mapping for this software. Because modeling and data preparation are bothersome, We tried to do it with a shadow mapping(?) method, attaching a shadow in a plane opposite attaching a pattern to a solid.
This is actually real however data are simple!
Seeing is believing. Let's try this software.
This software is for Windows 95 (& NT4.0). This software can not run in Windows 3.1.
There is the following restriction about NT4.0.
- When a background image is Desktop, in Windows95, the desktop (Wallpaper + desktop icons + desktop windows) becomes a background image. However, in NT4.0, only a wallpaper becomes a background image.
- The setting of the option that disregards a mouse movement is disregarded in NT. When a mouse is moved, screen saver finishes.
- The password that set up with system of NT4.0 is used as the password of screen saver. The password that set up with screen sever is not used.
High color or true color screen mode. Even in 256 colors this software is executable but it is not beautiful.
Large memory is necessary. 2.5 times (-3 times) of the capacity that a memory uses for a screen display may be necessary. About 1024x768 dot, 16bit color display mode, a necessary free memory becomes about 5MB.
Powerful PC is better. Even DX4 PC works good if graphic board is good. (DX4 100MHz, memory 40MB, VISION 864).
Yet, when breeding 10 or more guppies in the high resolution desktop, air pump and overlay processing need to stop. Pentium or more powerful CPU and an good graphic board may be necessary to do all option effectively.If a sound function is installed, you can hear comfortable sound of pump and water and can play BGM sound.
MFC40.DLL is necessary, because this software was made with Visual C++ 4.1 with MFC. If installing Windows95 usually and be using the software of Microsoft, there is MFC40.DLL in Windows95 System folder of your PC probably. If there is not MFC40.DLL unhappily, let's try to search the appendix CD-ROM of a personal computer magazine.
1 Decompress all files in EDSTFISH.ZIP to a proper folder. Archiver may create a new folder, Edstfish.
2 Execute SETUP.EXE file from the explorer. Display property-Screen saver shows. When clicking the configure button, configure dialogue of "ED's Tropical Fish" shows.

| 8 Ignore mouse | Screen saver is not terminating by mouse moving. This option is disregarded in NT4.0. Check when using wallpaper mode | |
| 9 Click to WP(wallpaper) mode | Screen saver becomes a wallpaper mode when clicking the mouse right button. When you can not access a task bar, click the mouse right button. If this option is not checked, a click makes screen saver terminate | |
| 10 Power saving during WP mode | Options of "Air pump" and "Swinging water plants", wasting CPU power very much, becomes ineffective during wallpaper mode | |

| 16 Bubbles | Decide number(10-100) of bubbles in a scroll bar. 10-20 may be proper. Decrease this number when animation processing is slow. | |
| 17 Drawing time(msec) | Decide interval for drawing time(msec). A redrawing time may not be designated time if the performance of your PC is not enough. Default value is 50msec. | |
| 18 Black Out | When designated time(min) passes, display screen becomes black. Let's set it up if your monitor has no power-save function. | |

Screen saver mode and wallpaper mode
This software in screen saver mode works as usual screen saver. Other than it, this software in wallpaper mode works in background.
Important!
- Pop-up menu is displayed by clicking the right mouse button, only when the "Ignore mouse" option is checked.
- If you change the resolution or color depth of desktop screen with executing this software in wallpaper mode, we are not able to predict what breaks out and we will not have responsibility to what happened.
- Configure dialogue may sometimes hide back of screen saver window. At a glance, system seems to hung up. However, we think, if you push "Alt" key etc., configure dialogue may be shown.
In wallpaper mode,
- Double clicks make windows' desktop folder show.
- A right click makes the following pop-up menu show.
| 1 Feeding | Food is scattered in the position of mouse cursor by clicking the left mouse button. If fishes are hungry, they go to crowd to food |
| 2 Make all fishes hungry | A hungry degree of all fish becomes 0%(very hungry status) |
| 3 A hungry degree of fishes | Nothing occurs with a click. Mean hungry degree of fishes is shown |
| 4 Lighting | With a click, lighting turned on and off(toggled) |
| 5 Automatic lighting | Use when you want lighting to turn on and off automatically. We think this is not so useful...(^^; |
| 6 Screen saver mode | If checked, this software works as usual screen saver |
| 7 Wallpaper mode | If checked, this software becomes the moving wallpaper. If it combines with proper launcher software, it may work good practically...We think. |
| 8 Iconic mode | If checked, It minimizes to iconic status in a task bar. Screen saver is not executed in this status. Check this option when you do not want to execute screen saver to make CPU overload by screen saver small as possible |

A trial use period is not limiting, however, erase all files in
the case that you will not use this software.

TFD File" button is not effective before
registration either.
