************RUBBER SOUL DESKTOP THEME FOR WINDOWS 95**************

This theme is set up for use with Plus!

Unzipping the RS.zip files should have given you:

This RSreadme.txt file
The bellbott.ttf file
Rubber Soul.theme file
.wav, .ico, .cur, .ani. and .jpg files

********INSTRUCTIONS********

Unzip into your Program Files/Plus!/Themes folder. All the files are named so that they stay together in the Themes folder, but you may prefer to place them in a subfolder of Themes. If you do this, you MUST name the folder "Rubber Soul" and you MUST put the Rubber Soul.theme file back be out in the Themes folder itself.

Find the bellbott.ttf file and move it to C:\Windows\Fonts. ****(NOTE:
this file is NOT named "RS bellbott.ttf" but just "bellbott.ttf" and so will be listed separately from the rest of the files when unzipped into the Themes folder. You will have to look for it.)****

To start the theme, go to Control Panel, Desktop Themes, and find "Rubber Soul" in the drop down menu. Select it and then click "OK."

***********NOTES***********

You may find the bellbottom font really groovy, fab, gear and a perfect choice for this theme, but hard to read on your monitor! To change it, simply uncheck the font box when you select the Rubber Soul Theme. It will default to the font used for the last theme you had up.

********SOUNDS**********

You may find the theme is simply too "noisy" for your tastes (or for some poor non-Beatle soul who has to share a computer with you), in which case you need to go to Control Panel, Sounds and deselect some of the sounds by replacing them with "none." If you have your computer set to open multiple programs on start up, you will get repeated playing of the "open program" .wav when you boot up and the 'close program .wav when you shut down. You need to select "none" for the "open program" and "close program" sounds. Remember to save this change under Desktop Themes or all those sounds will be back next time you boot up! (Instructions on that later.)

The sounds have been saved in Microsoft ADCPM format to reduce their size. If they will not play on your system, e-mail me and request the Revolver Sounds in 8 bit stereo.

*******Animated Cursors********

Two additional animated cursors of the Parlophone and Capitol album covers have been provided. To change to these, go to Control Panel, Mouse, Pointers, and select them for "waiting" and "busy." Remember to save any changes under Desktop Themes as explained below, or all the default cursors will be back next time you boot up!

*******Cursors*********

You might find the musical note pointer harder to be accurate with (you keep discarding the wrong card when playing Hearts!) and may want to switch back to the plain arrow pointer (included).

To replace the Musical Note pointer: go to Control Panel, Mouse, Pointers, and select the note, then click on "Browse..." Find the standard arrow pointer. Click on "open." Back on the Pointers menu, click on "Apply" and then on "OK."

********Changing Sounds/Cursors*******

To make changes stay in place after reboots, select the sounds/cursors you want. When they are in place, go the Control Panel, Desktop Themes, and click on "Save as", then on "Rubber Soul.theme." (Remember that this is out in the Themes folder itself, not in the Rubber Soul folder.) A prompt will tell you this file already exists and ask if you want to replace it. Say "yes." This will change the default sounds for this theme so you won't have to re-select everytime you turn the computer on. You can switch back to the original icons by using the same steps (Control Panel, Sounds, etc.) any time you want.

I hope you enjoy this theme. If you have problems using it or suggestions, e-mail me at liveletdie@worldnet.att.net. Unless you are a real newbie with a simple problem, I probably won't be able to help much, but I'll have a go at it!
